From stump to tip, Sweden’s gross felling up 1% in 2015

Sweden’s gross felling in 2015 was estimated to 92.5 million cubic metre standing volume (stem volume over bark from stump to tip. This is an increase by 1% compared with 2014, reports Swedish Forest Agency .

Total net felling increased slightly by 1% to 74.3 million cubic metre solid volume excl. bark. Most of the increase in net felling was due to changed methodology for fuelwood.A comparison of gross felling in the three-year average of (2013-2015) and (2012-2015) show a moderate increase of 1% to 89.9 million cubic metre standing volume (stem volume over bark from stump to tip).

Compared to the corresponding three-year average of gross felling divided by ownership class, there are no major changes.Individual forest owners accounted for 60% of gross felling and other forest owners for 40%. There have been little change in the gross felling proportion between different regions in Sweden.
