John Deere expands Excavator lineup with new 200G Model

  • The 145-horsepower 200G Excavator reduces the amount of fuel burn without sacrificing power or productivity.
  • Adjustable power modes can be set by the operator based on the job, engaging the machine automatically to change the engine and hydraulic pump settings.
  • This model boasts a faster swing speed due to efficiencies with the hydraulic system, increasing productivity in applications that require swing movements.
  • The 200G is compatible with a broad portfolio of bucket options, couplers and attachments, enabling it to meet the demands of several different applications.

New for 2020, John Deere introduces the 200G model to its excavator lineup. Designed to decrease the amount of fuel burn without sacrificing power or productivity, the 200G Excavator enables operators to quickly complete tough jobs while also lowering overall operation costs. Combined with John Deere’s broad bucket portfolio, coupler options and attachments, and accelerated swing speed, the 200G machine is ideal for many applications, including site development, roadbuilding, earthmoving and irrigation work.

The 200G machine features a 145-horsepower (108 kW) Final Tier 4 John Deere PowerTech™ PSS 4.5-liter engine. One of the most notable features on the 200G model is the low fuel burn: 11% less than the 210G. Adjustable power modes, including ECO and POWER settings, can be set by the operator based on the job, engaging the machine to automatically change engine rpm and hydraulic pump calibration. With fuel savings in mind, the ECO mode setting allows the machine to automatically adjust to arrive at the best balance of fuel consumption and productivity.

“Many of our customers are balancing tight budgets with the need for maximum power and productivity on the job,” said Jonny Spendlove, excavator product marketing manager, John Deere Construction & Forestry. “With the new 200G Excavator, we are giving our customers the best of both worlds. This machine is built with fuel saving at the forefront of its design, while also incorporating several productivity-boosting features to help operators efficiently complete jobs.”

The 200G boasts a faster swing speed due to efficiencies with the hydraulic system. As a result, productivity is increased in applications that require swing movements, such as truck loading and trenching operations. Additionally, this machine is compatible with a broad portfolio of bucket options, enabling it to meet the demands of several different applications. With options ranging from 0.55 cubic yards to 1.34 cubic yards, the bucket design allows any operator to maximize productivity, regardless of the type of job. Additionally, customers can opt for a hydraulic coupler to quickly change between attachments for even more versatility.

The design of the 200G machine focuses on increased uptime. The John Deere-exclusive double-sealed swing bearing system has enhanced internal grease retention, improving the machine’s overall reliability. This helps to reduce the risk of contamination by materials like dust and water. Additionally, reinforced arm-to-bucket joints maximize front-joint durability and reduce maintenance intervals for axial clearance adjustment. The tungsten carbide-coated ear flanges provide high-wear resistance and long service life, while steel bushings with grease groove channels increase resistance to abrasion and reduce pin wear.

Finally, similar to the rest of the G-Series Excavator line, the 200G features ground-level service access. This design ensures most filters can be accessed from the ground, allowing periodic maintenance to be completed with ease and reducing unwanted downtime. Terminator Type V

Komptech Terminator – “V” for Versatile

With the new Terminator Type V, the Komptech Terminator family has become even more flexible and versatile, in terms of application areas as well as machine features. In future, it can be configured for any user need.

This is one of the most comprehensive new developments and was due to be one of the show highlights at the IFAT 2020  Komptech booth – the new Terminator Type V. The V stands for “versatile,” not just in terms of the materials this impressive machine can handle, but also its very wide range of applications.

The focus during development was on users who need to process many different materials, be they household or commercial waste, biomass like green and shrub cuttings, or used wood. The familiar advantages of the Terminator, such as its high throughput, had to be retained while meeting new challenges. For example, processing biomass requires a more aggressive shredding unit in order to ensure active and steady material intake. To achieve this, the shredding teeth were made about 50 percent higher.

Flexible for users
From the user perspective, as well as from a technical point view, the new Terminator Type V is a line extension, i.e. a new version of the existing shredders U, F, XXF. The modular idea played a major role in the development, and the ability to easily replace all major components was designed in from the beginning. Our development engineers succeeded in integrating all future variants into the basic layout. This guarantees maximum flexibility for customers, since they can combine individual components to get a machine that exactly meets their needs. With the Type V, for the first time an optional reshredding unit under the drum is available, that greatly expands the range of possible grain sizes.

High throughput with top material quality
The new Terminator easily delivers high material quality at high throughput. Other compelling arguments are the revisions to the basic machine, which incorporates all the new developments that have already proven their worth with the new version of the Crambo, Komptech’s low-speed universal wood shredder. This includes further enhanced service access and a 750 kg weight reduction with no reduction in functionality.

In addition, for the first time an optional reshredding unit under the drum is available, that greatly expands the range of possible grain sizes. With this new machine Komptech has closed the imaginary gap between its specialists for waste processing, the previous Terminator line and the Crambo.

harvesting plan

SCA has confirms new harvesting plan

SCA has confirmed a new harvesting plan which shows that the harvesting level in it’s own forest will increase over the coming five years by an additional one million cubic meters per year more than the current level. The increased harvesting level gives an increased cash flow of 300-400 MSEK per year with full effect from 2025.

In 2019, SCA made a new forest survey which showed that the company’s forests had a higher standing volume and a higher growth rate than previously estimated. A higher growth rate gives higher long term harvesting potential.

The new harvesting plan is now confirmed and it is based on calculations of the development of the forest over more than one hundred years into the future. It shows that harvesting over the coming five year period can successively increase from todays level of 4.3 million cubics meter solid wood under bark (m3sub) to 5.4 million m3sub per year.
