tyre

Tyre – Nokian Tractor King – Revolutionary from surface to core

Nokian Tractor King is a new no-compromise tractor tyre for the heaviest of machinery and the most difficult terrain in forestry, earthmoving and road construction. The design from all-new tread pattern to fortified carcass is nothing short of revolutionary in a tractor tyre.

The demands set for an ultimate tractor tyre have grown difficult to meet since machine weights, horsepower and road speeds have all increased. For safe and sustainable forestry, earthmoving and road construction Nokian Tyres now presents the new Nokian Tractor King. With the supreme durability and traction of this tyre the horsepower of tractors can be transferred to the ground like never before, pushing the boundaries of what can be done with a tractor.

Nokian Tractor King is revolutionary from surface to core. It essentially has the carcass of a heavy-duty earthmoving tyre, complete with steel belts, extra cord layers and Aramid-reinforced sidewalls. This combined with strong rubber compound makes it extremely resistant against cuts and punctures of forestry, earthmoving and road construction work.

Many lugged tyres suffer from vibration problems, worsening with speed and tyre wear. Nokian Tractor King offers smooth ride on high speeds as well. Its durability, wear-resistance and environmentally friendly production process make it a sustainable choice for modern forestry, giving the driver peace of mind in all conditions.

Main features

  • 50% more tractive edges

Compared to conventional lug pattern. All-new tread pattern gives grip on all terrains from sticky clay to loose sand.

  • Maximum speed 65 km/h

Economical kilometres. Innovative, wear-resistant tread design for comfortable, cost-efficient mileage.

  • High load capacity 320 kPa

Durability for toughest conditions. Revolutionary core and sidewall design for top-class puncture-resistance.

Logset 6HP GT

Not Only Logset Fans Talking

Ville Kopo was positively surprised when he got his new Logset 6HP GT harvester in March 2018. The rotating and levelling cabin of the harvester, as well as the 11-meter-long crane ease his works days significantly.

“I used to drive a harvester with four wheels and a ninemeter crane. Thinning is easier with this new machine and the harvester is a lot steadier. The machine feels more effective and during a work day I get more done than before”, he says.

Even the Logset TH55 harvester head surprised Kopo in a positive way.

– I thought it was only Logset fans talking when they bragged about Logset, but the harvester head has made a great impression on me. Only a button stroke is needed for the tree to go through the head and the measuring accuracy is very good.

Driving A Forest Machine Since Young Age

Kopo studied at Kullaan metsäopisto in Finland and became a forest machine operator at the age of 18 in 2003. First, he worked as an operator for a few years. Then he started his own company and bought a forwarder.

– My first forest machine was a Logset 4F forwarder. I drove it for a couple of years, until I started driving a harvester together with my father.

Today Ville Kopop owns the Logset 6HP GT and his father works for him. They drive the machine in two shifts and both of them work 8–10 hour shift. With the harvester they do everything from thinning to final cut, but most of the worksites are thinnings.

“The best part of my job is that I get to work alone. I listen to the radio a lot”, Kopo says.

turnover

Strong year for Renholmen 2017/18

For Renholmen, which manufactures lumber handling equipment, the 2017/18 operating year was very good with near record levels of turnover for the Byske based company.

“Turnover hit 128 million SEK and that is close to an all time high. We are just below our record year of 2011, when we turned over 130 million. As regards profit we will need to wait for the final figures, but we can state it is a strong result,” says Renholmen’s newly appointed CEO PerJonsson.

Success in the market has meant that Renholmen has also grown in personnel over the year with a lot of new employees both at the head office in Byske but also in central Norrland and in the south of Sweden.

“We have continued to develop our offer and expanded our range with several new products, such as Stick Inspector, Auto Packer, Trimmer ElectroSinus and Electro Positioner. We feel continued confidence from the industry with a high demand for our solutions, which really contribute to the efficiency of sawmills. The Swedish market is responsible for the biggest proportion of the turnover. We have had an unusually large amount of projects, which is fantastic. During the year we have also opened a project office in Finland, where we have planted our flag and taken a leading market position,” says Per Jonsson.

Renholmen goes into this operating year with high ambitions.

“We have a strong brand, which is known for high quality and reliability. We will maintain that. The high pressure will remain and we will need to employ more, competent personnel. The expansion in Finland continues and we have also started an investment in Russia, where we have opened a sales office. The Russian government is investing billions in modernising their forestry and sawmill industries, so it is a markets that will be important to Renholmen in the future”, says Per Jonsson.

Södra

Sodra sells Swedish operations in Kallinge and Umea to Sornsen Holzleisten

Södra is divesting Södra Wood Kallinge and Södra Wood Umeå to the German company Sörnsen Holzleisten. The divestment date is September 1, 2018. Trade union negotiations in regard to the divestments will commence immediately.

“Last year, Södra Wood Grimslöv, UAB SIWood and Södra Wood AS were sold to Sörnsen. The operations in Kallinge and Umeå are now being sold to the same buyer. The acquisition of Kallinge and Umeå increases Sörnsen’s market share, and with competitive production and our strong sales and distribution organisation, they will be able to move the interior business in a positive direction. The acquisition will make Sörnsen a stronger, more stable and more competitive company,” said Peter Karlsson, Head of the Interiör business segment.

During spring and summer, Södra will be co-locating the Ronneby and Kallinge units in Kallinge. The investment and co-location will be finalised in connection with the divestment.

Södra Wood Kallinge produces mouldings, panelling and solid wood flooring, and has about 80 employees. Södra Wood Umeå produces mouldings and panelling, and has about 20 employees.

The buyer, Sörnsen Holzleisten, is the largest supplier of mouldings in Europe. The company produces a wide range of mouldings, in a selection of woods, and sells them to countries all over the globe.

warranty

John Deere announces equipment, warranty additions to the forestry certified used program

To better support customers, John Deere recently announced new equipment and warranty additions to its forestry certified used program.

The program, which ensures the value and reliability of used forestry equipment, will now include L-Series skidders and wheeled feller bunchers. Additionally, the warranty choices for all certified used skidders and wheeled feller bunchers now include an option to extend up to 12 months, in addition to the existing six-month offering.

“Our certified used program is designed to give customers a sense of security when purchasing used equipment,” said Kent Stickler, manager, Product Training and Information, John Deere. “Through this program, whether a machine has 5,000 hours or 8,000 hours, we are able to stand behind the quality of our equipment and provide our customers with the support they need to keep machines up and running.”

The most notable change to the program is the inclusion of the L-Series skidders and wheeled feller bunchers, providing customers with more certified used models. The new 12-month warranty option guarantees that customers are covered if any issues do occur with used skidders or wheeled feller bunchers. Forwarders, wheeled harvesters, and tracked feller bunchers and harvesters are still eligible for a six-month warranty.

The forestry certified used program provides loggers with reassurance when purchasing John Deere used equipment, including skidders, wheeled feller bunchers and harvesters, tracked feller bunchers and harvesters, and forwarders. Each used machine must pass a strict 100-plus point inspection in order to be certified. When using a certified machine, owners and operators can be confident in the quality of their machine, as John Deere and its world-class dealers back each piece of equipment.
